2021 Travel and Networking Grant Report
Ani Grigoryan
The EAPP Networking and Travel stipend allowed me to implement two research visits at the
Bergische University of Wuppertal. I was hosted by Prof. Dr. Anna Baumert at the Social and
Personality research lab having access to all facilities of the academic environment. I worked with
people who were very kind to me and open to sharing their knowledge and professional
experience.
During my first visit, we generated a few different ideas for a joint research project
establishing long-term collaboration between our labs. Coming back to Armenia, I did data
collection within a longitudinal study which allowed me to actively work on data analysis during
my second visit. Working with the team has enriched my knowledge and skills in advanced
statistical analysis, I got acquainted with new approaches and methods which I can use in other
research projects and share with my colleagues. All our findings during this work together will
serve as a basis for our joint publication(s), which we anticipate submitting to peer review in
international high-rank journals of our field and present at the ECP2024 in Berlin. Additionally,
the active participation in the team’s regular meetings regarding their teaching experience and
research activities expanded my professional horizons giving me new insights into teaching
methodology and research.
My visits were not only full of professional but of personal achievements. I could establish
friendly relationships with lab members-people who made my stay in a foreign country very
comfortable and safe and helped to overcome all challenges. I had great opportunities to spend
leisure time with Prof. Anna and other members having interesting conversations with them and
discovering the amazing urban culture of German cities.
This memorable experience will strengthen my professional development in different
aspects, but I will also do my best to apply what I have learned and acquired in my academic
environment.
